Tickets for Saturday’s scheduled event start at just $45, starts 81st Annual Bike Week at DAYTONA presented by Monster Energy

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 3, 2022) – Who will be Eli Tomac’s biggest cheerleader this Saturday to win a record-breaking sixth DAYTONA Supercross? The answer may come as a shock, but it’s the guy Tomac currently shares the record of five DAYTONA Supercross triumphs with—the greatest of all time, Ricky Carmichael.

“I want to see him do it. I love to see history made, and he deserves it,” said Carmichael, who for the 15and consecutive year designed the Daytona course that Tomac will compete for elite status this weekend. “I think he’s the one who broke my record. His style matches that title. He is a fantastic runner and a great ambassador for our sport.

“He has great core values and comes from a great racing family. He’s someone our youth need to look up to. He’s special. Watch him during DAYTONA Supercross – what he’s capable of and how he can work the track and how strong he is, he’s definitely something special.

DAYTONA Supercross kicks off the 81st Annual Bike Week at DAYTONA presented by Monster Energy. The 52n/a running the event features the most demanding course of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship season – and the only AMA Supercross event in the state of Florida in 2022. Carmichael, known for winning five DAYTONA Supercross events and for being the seven-time AMA 450cc Motocross National Championship, covets its triumphs at the World Center of Racing.

“When I drive through the doors and through this tunnel, it’s a feeling like no other, being here in Daytona,” said the 42-year-old from Tallahassee, FL. “You come out of that tunnel and you’re like, ‘Whoa!’ You’re in your own world. This is the World Center for Racing. Whether it’s two or four wheelers, the events here are spectacles like no other. There’s so much racing history here with so many racing talents who have won here. Being a Daytona champion is something so special.

“In our sport, there isn’t a single win you wanted to get more than DAYTONA Supercross. The reason is that it’s simply Daytona, plus it’s the most physical, mental and challenging a driver faces each season. Hands down, it’s Daytona. And, for me, I’ve lived in Florida all my life and that makes it even more special.

As for its unique design that the runners will challenge on Saturday, Carmichael is “happy with it. The running track should run well. We have specials this year with the sand section, the wall jump and the top and bottom. The upper and lower deck opens things up, and the lanes are quite long and will allow riders to get along alongside each other. This will open up more passing opportunities for them. I’m delighted with how it turned out.
