The British Motocross Championship begins at Culham MX Park

EUROPE’s top motocross riders head to Oxfordshire this weekend to kick off their 2022 season.

Culham MX Park, near Abingdon, hosts the first round of the Revo ACU British Championship on Saturday and Sunday for what promises to be an adrenaline-filled 48 hours.

The best young and adult riders from the UK and Europe are ready to take part in a series of thrilling races on the challenging circuit, located on the grassy banks of the River Thames behind the Culham Science Centre.

The site opened the British Series in 2017, 2018 and 2021, so it became the starting track to launch the Championship.

Riders from just six years old to over 30 will race in their respective classes, depending on bike ability and age brackets.

Spectators will have the chance to see competitors in the paddock, while other activities include special team signings.

This high-energy sport sees riders compete on off-road tracks containing steep climbs and descents, long jumps, and muddy or gravel-like terrain.

Motocross is incredibly physically demanding, despite relatively short runs of 30 minutes or less.

After this weekend’s action in Culham, competitors will travel to venues across the UK as they continue their quest to be crowned winners of their respective classes.

The final is expected to take place in September.

It is the only officially recognized British title and is a pathway for riders to progress to European and World Championship level.

The British Championship dates back to 1951 and has become the best domestic series in Europe.
