Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter released additional details on Monday about four fatal motorcycle crashes that occurred in Great Falls in July and August.
On July 11, motorcyclist Shane William Tuttle, 52, was driving westbound on River Drive North and 25th Street when he failed to negotiate a curve, which resulted in an accident. Tuttle died from blunt force trauma.
On July 19 at approximately 9 p.m., a motorcycle and a Honda sedan collided at the intersection of 10th Avenue South and 7th Street. The motorcycle driver, William J. Griffin, 37, received CPR at the scene and was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Slaughter said the Honda rider was uninjured.
On August 11, just after 1 p.m., a truck-on-motorcycle crash occurred at the intersection of Central Avenue West and Vaughn Road. The motorcyclist, Allen Helminiak, 43, was transported to Benefis Health System with internal and external injuries. He died later that day.
Finally, on August 13 at approximately 6:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Mile 35 on US Highway 89 for a single-vehicle motorcycle accident. The driver, Troy Aaron England, 47, apparently lost control as he drove around a bend. The motorcycle passenger suffered serious injuries and was transported to Benefis via Mercy Flight.
