THQ Nordic has confirmed that its popular off-road racing franchise will return with the release of MX vs ATV Legends on May 24 this year.
Last year (September 27, 2021) we reported on the game’s unveiling during THQ Nordic’s 10th anniversary digital showcase, revealing that it will feature two-player split-screen and a full “Legends” career mode.
The ability to earn sponsorship, customize your driving avatar, and take multi-pronged paths to global glory bodes well for a long-term single-player experience.
The last MX vs ATV game was released in 2018, and the formula of fun motocross (MX), all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and utility vehicle (UTV) racing continues. ATVs and UTVs – quads and small four-wheel-drive trucks respectively – are four-wheeled counterpoints to classic motocross bikes and offer a slightly different challenge to players.
THQ Nordic focused on improving the handling of all vehicles and their interaction with berms and muddy ruts, which players will be able to test online against up to 15 other human opponents.
The latest update highlights the new Trails mode, where players can take advantage of the highly detailed open-world landscapes to forge new paths to beat the opposition in point-to-point races, evoking memories of 2006’s MotorStorm on PlayStation 3.
The game should be released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S, and can be pre-ordered from PlayStation and Microsoft digital stores now.
