Police investigate fatal motorcycle crash in Spokane Valley

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Spokane Valley Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle accident in the 12900 block of E Mansfield Ave. between Houk Road and Discovery Place.

Police responded to a caller who said a biker was unconscious and not breathing. Spokane Valley Fire arrived on the scene to provide medical attention as deputies helped regulate traffic.

The male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses said the motorcycle was traveling east on Mansfield at high speed, passing a car traveling in the same direction.

The motorcyclist continued east before hitting a turning Dodge truck on Mansfield. The truck driver was not injured and is cooperating with investigators.

Spokane Valley Police said residents should avoid the area as it is an active investigation and the area is very congested due to multiple apartment complexes. Mansfield Avenue is currently closed in both directions in the immediate vicinity of the crash scene, according to police.

Depending on where they live, residents of apartment buildings will have to enter their parking lots from the east or west of the scene, according to police.

This is an ongoing investigation and we will provide more information as it becomes available.
