CATSKILL — State Police are continuing their investigation into a fatal collision between an SUV and a motorcycle in Catskill.
The crash happened around 4 p.m. Friday on State Highway 32, according to state police.
A 2015 Mercedes GLA250 SUV driven by Vilma Lawson, 58, of Norwalk, Connecticut, was traveling north on State Route 32, according to state police. Lawson made a left turn onto Game Farm Road and turned directly into the path of a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Daniel J. Valk, 26, of Saugerties, who was traveling south on the national road 32.
The motorcycle struck the front passenger side of the SUV, causing Valk to be ejected from the motorcycle, according to state police.
When troopers arrived at the scene, they found three motorists performing CPR on Valk, according to state police. Responding soldiers joined the motorists and began rescue measures. Greene County paramedics arrived and took over lifesaving measures.
They were unable to revive Valk, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police.
There was no immediate word on whether charges would be filed. State police said Wednesday their investigation is ongoing.
