NYSP investigator injured in motorcycle accident in Oswego County | WWTI

CONSTANTIA, NY (WWTI) – Two were injured following a motorcycle and vehicle accident in Oswego County on Tuesday.

According to New York State Police, at approximately 3:35 p.m. on April 5, New York State Police Investigator Ivan Chinikailo was driving an unmarked BCI vehicle westbound on State Route 49 in the city of Constantia when he attempted to turn left into an alley. .

However, while making this turn, a 2019 Yamaha motorcycle, driven by Douglas C. Groover, 40, of Newark, New York, attempted to pass the Nissan but hit the driver’s side rear door.

Police say the impact of the crash caused Groover to be ejected from the motorcycle and caused extensive damage to both vehicles.

Groover was taken by ambulance to Upstate University Hospital with a leg injury. The NYSP Chinikailo investigator was transported by private vehicle to a local doctor for evaluation.

The New York State Police continue to investigate this incident.

State police were assisted at the scene by the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office.
