Motorcycle Ohio Announces $ 2.5 Million in Rider Training Funding

Ohio has more than 400,000 motorcycles registered in the state

COLUMBUS – Motorcycle Ohio, a division of the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, today announced $ 2.5 million in funding for government agencies and nonprofits looking to provide certified training for motorcyclists.

Motorcycle Ohio establishes Motorcycle Safety and Education Programs to provide affordable rider training courses to reduce fatalities and injuries on Ohio roads through rider education, campaigns public information and improved licensing.

“In addition to wearing the proper equipment, comprehensive rider training is crucial for both novice and experienced riders to safely navigate Ohio roads,” said Michele Piko, Motorcycle Ohio State Program Coordinator. “This funding will ensure that the programs provide certified training to develop and improve the skills of riders. “

Financial assistance is available for applicants to provide them with Basic Driver Skills for Beginners, Basic Driver Skills for Returning Driver and Basic Driver Skills – 2 as an early season refresher , to link up with a new motorcycle or to gain experience with a passenger. .
