Motorcycle crash kills one, injures another, causing major delays on I-90

LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. – One person died and another was injured in a motorcycle accident Saturday that caused significant traffic delays on I-90 near Liberty Lake.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Trevor J. Conklin, 43, along with a 13-year-old passenger, were riding a motorcycle eastbound on I-90. As a car slowed in front of them, WSP said the motorcycle struck the car, ejecting both Conklin and the teenager.

Conklin died at the scene and the teenager was injured. WSP said both wore helmets.

The accident completely blocked traffic on I-90 eastbound. The Washington State Department of Transportation said this caused delays for I-90 eastbound and westbound.

WSP said both lanes were blocked while a Lifelite medical helicopter was in the area. The teenager was taken to hospital.

WSP said there was a detour to Liberty Lake on Appleway Blvd. In addition, they stated that eastbound traffic may move on the right shoulder across the stage.

At one point, WSP said eastbound traffic was backed up to Sullivan Rd., While westbound traffic was backed up across the Idaho state border.

The accident is under investigation.

This is a developing story.
