Fatal motorcycle collision reported on E. South Bear Creek Drive in Merced

July 17, 2022 – MERCED – A 34-year-old man died in a motorcycle collision with a parked car on E. South Bear Creek Drive. Alcohol intoxication is suspected as a contributing factor.

Saturday July 16eAt 6:38 p.m., Merced PD officers and Emergency Medical Services responded to the 1100 block of E. South Bear Creek Drive for a vehicular collision involving a motorcycle and a parked car.

EMS rendered medical attention to a 34- and 27-year-old man who crashed into a vehicle that was legally parked alongside the curb. Officers discovered the two were riding the same motorcycle.

The 34-year-old man was transported to the local emergency room where he succumbed to his injuries. He was not wearing a motorcycle helmet. The name of the deceased is withheld pending notification of the family.

The 27-year-old was grounded to an area trauma center for treatment. He is in serious but stable condition.

Officers suspect alcohol was a contributing factor in the collision.
