CUMMING, Ga .– Donald Dwayne Dowell, 61, of Cumming, Ga., Formerly of Owensboro, died on Sunday October 3, 2021 in Cumming. He was born on August 27, 1960 in Daviess County. Donald had worked in sales at Home Depot for 10 years. He was a NASCAR fan and had worked at the former Atlanta International Raceway, now known as Atlanta Motor Speedway. Donald was a PADI Certified Dive Instructor, British sports enthusiast, loved aviation and had an interest in NASA and all things space travel related to. He also loved watching a nephew in motocross races and loved going to the beach in Florida.
Donald was predeceased by his mother, Wilma Ann Dowell, in July 2015.
Survivor is her father, Donald D. Dowell of Utica; her sister, Star McKay and her husband Dennis of Stanley; her loving companion of 35, Jerre Lynne Whittington of Cumming; a niece, Kaycee Workman and her husband Austin of Mount Vernon, Indiana; two nephews, Dylan McKay (Casey Mills) and Dakota McKay, all of Stanley; and a great-niece and two great-nephews, Raynee, Austin and Dasan.
Services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Glenn Funeral and Crematorium with interment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Stanley. Visitations will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
