Bike Check & Interview: Stacey Fisher, winner of the UK National DH Series and her Transition TR11

With all the celebrations over in the final round of the UK National Downhill Series, we grabbed Elite-winning Stacey Fisher’s Transition TR 11 bike for a look. With sponsors like Transition and Hope this was never going to be a lousy bike and it doesn’t disappoint.

However, this bike isn’t all about good looks, it took an absolute fight in everything from regional races to the 2021 World Downhill Championships where Stacey finished 16th.

“We couldn’t leave enough alone on our quest to make the TR11 our best DH bike ever. Stacey’s Transition is a small frame and all-carbon construction. The Transition TR11 uses the brand’s Gravity GiddyUp Suspension platform. It is progressive in nature, has low leverage and minimal pedal recoil, which offers fantastic performance in a simple package.

At the heart of Transition’s Gravity GiddyUp suspension is a Fox DHX2 Factory Coil shock. Stacey uses a 350lb spring on her TR11, but that’s all the information we can share because, like many Elite racers, Stacey used Dialed telemetry services to set her suspension just the way Stacey likes it and these settings are a secret kept close to their chest. The only thing we can tell you is that Stacey replaced the Standard Fox 40 that came with the bike, which was a 27.5 “wheel for a 29” wheel compatible set allowing her to configure her TR11. in a Mullet configuration.

The next big change is the Hope Top Crown with an integrated 50mm stem. As you would expect from Hope, it’s made from a solid billet of 2014 T6 aluminum and has been engineered to increase the stiffness of the upper fork, increase drag and give a super neat setup. .

The drivetrain on this TR11 is treated with more Hope CNC jewelry with a 165mm long EVO crank set and Spiderless chainring running on a Hope bottom bracket with the chain controlled by an E-thirteen chain guide and tensioner . All of this is complemented by the DH SPD pedal of choice, the Crank Brothers Mallet pedal.

The rest of the drivetrain comes from SRAM with its ever popular XO1 7 Speed ​​DH groupset. The XO1 Mech looks like it’s had a rough time taking a lot of hits, it’s treated with a set of Hope jockey wheels.
With this transition set up as a Mullet bike, we have a 30mm wide Hope Fortus aluminum rim on the front of Stacey’s bike paired with the Hopes Pro 4 hub. At the rear you’ll find the same setup with a version the 27.5 “Hope Fortus DH wheel. These are tubeless mounted with the Classic Maxxis DHR and DHF tire combo, both in DH casing.

As for the handlebars, Stacey uses a Renthal Fatbar Lite aluminum handlebars. This bar has a height of 20 mm and a width of 750 mm. The handles are supported by ODI’s Classic Elite locks, which appear to have been used a lot. For the brakes, Stacey uses SRAM’s Code RSC brakes with 200mm rotors front and rear.

Hope also provides Stacey with a little more bling with her classic seatpost clamp and there’s even a Hope edition of the Radar saddle from SDG. This is quite low due to Stacey’s height. There is a personal touch on the top tube with a Unicorn sticker, something that Stacey and her boyfriend have matching tattoos on.


After the champagne was sprinkled and the trophies handed out, we managed to catch up with 2021 UK National Downhill Series champion Stacey Fisher. Stacey has moved from motocross in the last few years to downhill.

Congratulations on winning the DH National Series, how are you feeling?

How was the last year for you? You and KJ fought until the last rounds

Yes, I did not start very well. I broke my foot before the season and when I got back from that I think it was the week before Round 1 at Hamsterley I had a really bad fall. I hit a tree and broke my tailbone, so it was in great pain for Hamsterley. But yeah, I was just trying to progress through the year and now this.

How does that compare to winning national champions, are they at the same level?

Yeah, I would have liked the National Fields a bit more but that’s good enough.

You were at the world championships in Val di Sole. Are you looking forward to making World Cups next year too?

If I can get financial support, I’m here. I think I’ll be there anyway. I’m going to go into debt for this.

Is this the main thing preventing you from participating in World Cups, from finding a sponsor willing to help you finance them?

Yeah, yeah, it’s actually because nobody needs a bike with certain components on it, things like that, or a certain tire. The money side because of all the covid testing, the cost of the trip and everything that goes with that is the deciding factor as I have to figure out how much it will cost and then come up with it to someone to see if it’s doable.

It’s great to see the female category become more competitive again. Is it fun to fight for results?

Well it’s fun when I win, just kidding. It’s actually a lot of fun. Coming from motocross, having realized what I did there and coming here and then being in the top flight this year, racing is a little new to me. So that was great, but it really made me think that I have to get by mentally first.

The women’s field, although competitive, looks a bit like a family. How is it?

It is absolutely unbelievable. You have runners who come and ask you how did you do it, did you have a clean run and they really hope you did well, really. I wasn’t expecting it and honestly, it’s fine with me. I don’t know it’s weird people pushing and beating me – I don’t feel any resentment and I just think it’s because everyone just wants to build themselves up and everyone is nice to each other. others.

It’s not your full time job, is it? How do you find the mixture of a full time job with running?

I can’t train. I work from Monday to Friday, if we have a little time, I work out, I work on the bike or we will just have fun for about an hour after work at the local or dig. In terms of finding the time to go to the races, my company has been pretty good with that but obviously it’s not paid so it doesn’t really help with the efforts to get to the Worlds. It’s by the way and it’s not much of a problem.

So next year do you think you’ll be back in the National Series? Do you have other big plans or are you sticking to the descent?

Yeah, my dad and boyfriend persuade me every day to get back to motocross but have no interest in it yet. I love this sport and I’m sorry I didn’t get started sooner. Literally no plans but descents, world cups and national championships. Everything about bicycles and two wheels interests me.
